The Mt. Borah Epic, a new 30-mile point-to-point mountain bike race, will take place during the fifth annual CAMBA Festival of Trails, May 31 to June 2.

The race, to be held June 1 and limited to 300 riders, will start at Telemark Resort near Cable, Wisconsin, and utilize fire roads and the nationally acclaimed singletrack in the area.

The Mt. Borah Epic borrows part of its name from the "IMBA Epic Ride" designation given by the International Mountain Bicycling Association to some of the 300 miles of singletrack built by the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association in the northwest Wisconsin counties of Sawyer and Bayfield.

Title sponsor Mt. Borah, a custom sports apparel company based in Coon Valley, Wisconsin, will donate all proceeds from the race to CAMBA.

The CAMBA Festival of Trails, taking place the same weekend in Hayward, Seeley, Cable and Namakagon, will include several other events, not limited to the Tour de Trail, tours of several singletrack trails in Hayward, Cable and Namakagon; Technique de Trails, riding skills taught to both adults and youth (there will also be a trailside bicycle repairs session); Twi-Night de Trails, a guided night ride; and Toast de Trails, social events and activities including a meet-and-greet on Friday evening, a party on Saturday evening and a grill-out on Sunday afternoon during the final closing activities.

Sponsors have donated $10,000 worth of products for a drawing during the Sunday grill-out. All festival participants will receive a premium item.

The cost is $75 per adult, $25 per child or $175 per family of four (including children 17 and under).

The Mt. Borah Epic is a separate event with a $80 entry fee, but individual racers may participate in festival activities under a combined registration fee of $125.

If you can't make these mountain bike events, consider the CAMBA Fat Tire Tour on September 13, a 10-mile noncompetitive tour on CAMBA singletrack to kick off Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival weekend.
