Des Moines to host Volkssporting Convention, June 18-26
The American Volkssport Association will hold their biennial convention in Des Moines, Iowa, June 22-24, at the downtown Polk County Convention Complex. Prior to, during and after the actual convention, volks marches or walks will be held. The general public is invited to participate in these events for a fee of $2.
The walk locations are as follows
June 18: Council Bluffs/Omaha, 5K & 10K; Loess Hills/Hitchcock Nature Center, 5K & 10K
June 19: Whiterock Conservancy/Coon Rapids, 5K & 11K
June 20: Clear Lake, 5K & 10K; Mason City, 5K & 10
June 21: Living History Farms/Clive, two 5K loops
June 22: Winterset, 6K & 10K
June 23: Ames, 6K & 10K
June 24: Des Moines, 6K & 12K
June 25: Cedar Rapids, 5K & 11K
June 26: Davenport/Rock Island, 5K & 10K
The host club, the Greater Des Moines Volkssport Association, is one of several hundred volkssporting clubs throughout the U.S. The various clubs sponsor noncompetitive walking, biking, swimming, and cross-country skiing events throughout the year.
