Snowshoe racing continues with Braveheart Series
Only one early February race remained for Midwestern snowshoe racers wanting to qualify for the U.S. Snowshoe Championship in Cable, Wisconsin, March 11-13. That qualifying race was the Twin Cities Snowshoe Shuffle in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 5. For more information, go to www.esns.org." target="_blank">www.esns.org.
Another competition is still under way for snowshoers throughout the region, however. The Braveheart Snowshoe Racing Series, now in its second year, is encouraging participation in as many as 25 snowshoe events, 11 of which are still to take place in February and March.
Awards will be given to all participants who complete at least seven races in the series. And for each event an individual snowshoer completes, that participant is entered into a drawing for prizes that include pairs of Dion-brand snowshoes. The series awards will be given at the Upper Midwest Trail Runners November 2011 Fall Fest. For the series rules and more information, go cutemoose.net/snowshoe_series.htm.
The Braveheart series includes the citizens race and relay race taking place in Cable on nationals weekend.
