Running much of the 16K in front and alone, Francis Eanes, 25, of Madison, Wis., won the race in 1:01:53 (a 6:14/mile pace). A minute later, Francis Flanagan, 27, of Madison finished second, and Scot Van Asten, 36, also of Madison, took third overall in a time of 1:04:36.
Tom Held, blogger at TheActivePursuit.com (and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh alum), climbs the second-to-last hill on the 16K course a few yards ahead of Karl Heil, former superintendent of Blue Mound State Park. They finished 25th and 26th overall, respectively.
A relaxed Michelle Jackson, 30, of Madison, Wis., finished the 16K second woman overall and first in the 30-39 age group in 1:17:41. Jen Skelly, 33, of Janesville, was the overall female winner in a time of 1:15:30.
