On February 10, the hand written sign at the entrance to Blue Mounds State Park warned skiers that the trail conditions were "poor to fair" and icy fast. Falling snow that day nearly covered the sign and added a much needed inch to the base.

For obvious reasons, the Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton, Wisconsin, was closed to cross-country skiers on February 10. The city groomed trails did not survive the unseasonably warm temperatures over the previous week.
