2004 Adventure Races August 7 Devils Challenge, WI: The Devil's Challenge is a two-person team race part of the Wisconsin Adventure Racing Society (WARS) race series. September 18 Midwest Monster Adventure Race, Siloam Springs State Park, Quincy, IL: Co-ed four-member teams will complete a 30-mile mountain bike ride, carry
40-pound sand bags, navigate the dense foliage of Siloam Springs State Park, complete an obstacle course and a two-mile canoe course on Lake Siloam and finish with an 11-mile run around the lake and park. See www.monsteradventure.com.
September 24 Wild 24-Hour Adventure Race, 24 Hours
Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN: This is the final race in the Minnesota Adventure Race Series. The event has been selected as a national qualifier for the 2004 USARA National Championships in Indiana. This race will include trekking, navigation, mountain biking, flat-water kayaking, ascending and rappelling fixed ropes, and team mystery challenges. The distance is approximately 100 miles. October 16-17 Thunder Rolls Adventure Race Loud Thunder Forest Preserve, Illinois City, IL: The second annual Thunder Rolls one of only two two-day stage adventure races to be held in the United States this year will involve paddling on the Mississippi River, trail running on ancient Sac Fox Indian trails, single track mountain biking, navigating through old growth forests and river sloughs and rope courses. Co-ed teams of
