Friends of Lapham Peak have a deal: buy a bike, get snow

cycling, Nordic skiing

There was a day when you could buy a TV and get a bike.

On Saturday, you can buy a bike and get snow.

The Friends of Lapham Peak are hosting their 7th annual bike swap at Cushing School in Delafield, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The proceeds will be directed to expand the snow-making operation at the popular recreation area.

Lapham Peak had some of the only snow in the area for much of the ski season, thanks to a $250,000 investment by the Friends group. Their goal is to raise another $300,000 to expand the operation and cover a four- or five-kilometer loop, even in the kind of barren winter skiers just endured.

In keeping with that old American TV philosophy, there will be deals galore.
