Texas lawyer notches a record 113 marathons in 2011

A Texas lawyer who sometimes mixes miles and billable hours has filed a claim on the Guinness Book record for most marathons finished in one year.

Laurence Macon notched number 113 on New Year's Eve, his 67th birthday, in the Double Marathon near Dallas.

The Reuters story lists the current record for the most marathons completed in one year by a male runner at 106. South Korea's IM Chae Ho set that record in 2009 and Macon matched it in 2010.

As impressive as his persistence is his dedication to his practice. According to the news report, Macon once handled a conference all on a civil case while running the Boston Marathon. Maybe he measured his mile splits in billable increments.
