Jorgensen's Olympic pursuit earns attention from SI.com

triathlon

Two years ago, Gwen Jorgensen was a rookie triathlete preparing for her first race as a member of the USA Triathlon elite development program.

Today, she's a member of the U.S. Olympic team and an athlete earning headlines and feature coverage at SI.com.

In a piece posted Tuesday, Sarah Kwak tracks Jorgensen's path from high school swimmer and runner at Waukesha South High School, to All-American runner at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and her race in London to secure a berth in the Olympics.

Once a swimmer and once a runner, Jorgensen has been swept into her new multi-discipline sport.

"I have a huge passion for this now," she says. "I've really grown to love it and the people around it.... [And] as long as I'm fortunate enough and healthy enough to compete at this level, I want to continue to do it."
