Thanks to Chris Jones for tipping me off to the trail report from Lapham Peak, where man-made snow has been spread to cover a 1/4-mile loop for skate-style skiing.

Paul Sandgren, the superintendent of the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest (the guy in charge) posted the notice Tuesday morning. Skiers should be aware that it's a two-way loop, stay to the right.

As Sandgren noted, it isn't much, but it is a bit of good news. The forecast is less-than promising.

There is a slight chance of making some snow later this week, but the temps need to get to 20 degrees before snowmaking efforts can begin.

Sandgren added a thank you to those who donated to the Lapham Peak Friends snow-making efforts. Your donations allowed for the snow-making equipment as well as the recent purchase of a used snowcat with a power tiller.
