State Sen. Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) plans to beat the deadline for commenting on the proposals for a bike and pedestrian lane on the Hoan Bridge and deliver petitions with 5,000 signatures Tuesday afternoon.

Larson will present the show of support to the Wisconsin Department of Transporation officials gathering input on the bike lane alternatives presented last month. Ranging in cost from $9.5 million to $95.5 million, the alternatives are being reviewed as part of the planning for a large-scale rehabilitation of the bridge connecting bike paths in Bay View and downtown Milwaukee.

The deadline for submitting comments to the DOT is 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Comments should be directed to Carolynn Gellings, WisDOT Project Manager carolynn.gellings@dot.wi.gov.

  1. Why are all of you goofy liberals so obsessed with the Hoan Bridge? It's a bad idea to bike on it, just like it's a bad idea to run half marathons on it in the middle of summer. And besides, we don't have the money to do this. When are you going to get it through your dense skulls that our government is nearly broke and there are much more important things to spend our money on than opening up the Hoan Bridge to a bunch of crazy cyclists? You guys live in your own world...one that is completely out of touch with reality.

  2. Chis Larsen is the biggest joke of a politician I have ever come across.
Even my far left friends think this bike path is a complete waste! The funny thing is that Milwaukee is one of the poorest cities in the nation, but we need a bike path! Liberals have completely ruined this great city!

  3. Have him take a test ride over it today to get a preview of coming attractions. Memo might want to take a parachute with you.

  4. Do you mean "Chris the Shoplifter" Larson?

So much integrity in the Democratic party these days. Maybe he stole the paper for the petitions....

  5. It shows you the greed of today's Liberal. They could care less about the poor, otherwise they would not be diverting money from other things to use on a bike path used by a few.

  6. I think what needs to be determined here is money we can not afford to continue to provide money to MPS or to Seniors, or Insurance for families I certainly think we can take the low road of cost deeming it is necessary to improve the Hoan Bridge. One other thoguht is the danger of pedestrians riding bikes on a highway where the speed and wind could cause tragedy. I dont get why we need to do anything unless it needs to be worked on do to repairs.
