State Sen. Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) plans to beat the deadline for commenting on the proposals for a bike and pedestrian lane on the Hoan Bridge and deliver petitions with 5,000 signatures Tuesday afternoon.

Larson will present the show of support to the Wisconsin Department of Transporation officials gathering input on the bike lane alternatives presented last month. Ranging in cost from $9.5 million to $95.5 million, the alternatives are being reviewed as part of the planning for a large-scale rehabilitation of the bridge connecting bike paths in Bay View and downtown Milwaukee.

The deadline for submitting comments to the DOT is 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Comments should be directed to Carolynn Gellings, WisDOT Project Manager carolynn.gellings@dot.wi.gov.

  1. Really Deville? How much money has Walker given to his business cronies that have not brought jobs to this state?

  2. Next you are going to go off on a Koch tangent when they have only given $180,000 to ALL Republican candidates in the last 8 years.

Do we need to get in to how much the unions have contributed? Can you say tens of millions?

  3. Why would they waste up to $94 million to provide a bike path that a very limited number of people would use, not to mention pedestrians? Oh I forgot, it's like Tom Barret's trolley. "Let us spend, let us spend, let us spend". (sung to Let it Snow)

  4. Recall Larson!

  5. I think I finally figured it out. The "good" liberals live in Bay View now (sorry RiverWest). And to be a truly "good" liberal, you have to ride your bike to work so as to save on evil greenhouse emissions. And how does a "good" liberal ride to work in downtown Milwaukee from Bay View without a bike lane on the Hoan Bridge? Screw the poor people who really need help. Let's spend the taxpayer money on putting a bike lane on a windy bridge.

  6. any amount of corporate welfare is too much. by the way where are the jobs?

  7. If Walker or a republican were proposing this the headline would be "Walker wants to take $95M from programs for Grandma and give it to rich bikers".

Why is is any different for a Liberal to do the same thing?

  8. The petition settles it. If 0.84% of the population of Milwaukee wants a bike path on the Hoan, then we must build it no matter what the true cost will be.

  9. Well heck, how much money have these 5000 contributed to the path or to Larson?

  10. Larson, Why don't you build a bike path from your house to IL, go for a ride and NEVER come back!! Seriously, either do something useful while in office or get out!!

  11. Does sticky fingers Chris Larson have money stuck to his hands to pay for it?

How about a bike toll lane?

    Jason53072 Nov 29, 2011 1:45 PM

  12. Are Chris' Illinois constituents allowed to sign his petition?
