Cushing Park Road Trail opens (officially)

trails

Already a favorite pathway for area residents, the Cushing Park Road Recreational Trail will be opened officially on Wednesday morning.

The paved path, roughly three miles long, connects the Lake Country Trail in Delafield to the 52-mile Glacial Drumlin State Trail off Highway 18. It leads into the Lapham Peak recreation area.

The City of Delafield Parks Department will host the ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m., about ½ mile south of Main St. in Delafield.

I checked out the new trail a couple weeks ago and enjoyed a scenic ride through the prairies adjacent to Lapham Peak.

Mimi Paik had a simple review. "I love it, I love it, I love it," she said, while guiding her daughter Eliana, 7.

"It's so close to home and it's safe and it goes through the park."

Eliana stopped just long enough to ponder the appeal: "I like the nature."

  1. Wow, sounds like a nice ride for me from the lake country trail to Lapham Peak. I love Lapham Peak, it is a beautiful place to go hiking. It does not sound like a lot of heavy traffic on the way out there. I am going to for sure give it a try.
