Kenosha County paving its bike / pedestrian trail

trails

Work will start Monday to pave the 7.5-mile Kenosha County Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail, which includes two segments on the north and south ends of the county.

The trail has existed for decades as a crushed-gravel path. Frequent washouts created the need for the asphalt.

The south section, from 89th St. to the Illinois border in Pleasant Prairie will be paved first, followed by the north segment, from 35th St. to the Racine County line.

Total cost of the project will be roughly $900,000, according to the Kenosha County Executive's office. Funding will be split between the county and a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
