Fit Milwaukee hosts trail running 101 clinic

trail running

Seeing a notice for a trail-running clinic organized by the Fit Milwaukee crew reminded me of a comment from Aaron Nodolf, after he had splashed his way to victory in the first Bear Trax 20K at Lapham Peak:

“It really embodied the purity of running, what it’s all about, going out there and having fun.”

Nodolf nailed it, describing exactly what makes running the trails one of my favorite athletic activities. It reminds me of being a kid, moving with a sense of abandon.

Thanks to Marty Burian and Fit Milwaukee, the class will provide an opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of running off road. The first group will head out for a seven-mile run at Lapham Peak, just off Highway C in the Town of Delafield.

Groups running shorter distances will leave at 9:30 a.m. and 11.

More details can be found here.

Just be forewarned, that first taste of dashing through the woods could lead to something like this.
