Driver arrested in crash that injured cyclists on night ride in Los Angeles
An alleged drunken driver and a group of cyclists riding in early-morning darkness collided on a street in Los Angeles, leaving roughly one dozen of the bikers injured; at least one critically.
News reports described the group of roughly 100 as the Midnight Ridazz.
The 27-year-old woman plowed into the group, which was stopped on the highway. Authorities were investigating whether the bicyclists were blocking a part of the highway at the time of the crash, according to broadcast reports.
Investigators are reported to be checking out a number of factors: whether the driver was impaired, whether she was texting or otherwise distracted and whether the riders were stopped under a street light that was not working.
"It looked like she was stopping, but she just kept going," said one unidentified witness interviewed on television. Another likened what happened to a bowling ball knocking down pins.

Its hard enough to see a drunken/stoned bicyclist that darts in and out of traffic, riding recklessly during the day....its even harder to see that same drunken/stoned biker riding an unlit and unreflectored bike at 2AM.
Going home from work after midnight, I have encountered several dozen of these fools and had to swerve many a times to avoid hitting a stoned wobbly bicyclist.
These Midnight Ridazz do not follow bicycle safety, and are usually found spread all over BOTH sides of the street. This is extremely dangerous to autos, especially after midnight when lighting and vision is compromised.
