  1. This just in: After a night of binge drinking, Mr Abele is too hung over to ride his ten speed...

  2. Cancelled? One would think there could just be a rain delay until next week.

  3. motley - Abele will meet everyone at the tavern instead. Cheers!

Motley, Please advice which tavern this is, since I would like to attend this event.

  4. fwiwimho - "and the car works every day. rain, snow or sunshine. and on you(r) own schedule."

Where is it stated that bicycling to work (or otherwise) needs to be a 24 x 7 x 365 proposition? Bicycling is just one of several transportation options. Enjoy your $4/gallon car ride.

  5. Got an idea. Lets add a roof and some sides to the bike to protect the rider
from the elements. Oh, and then lets add two more wheels to make it a bit
more stable. Hey, then we can add a small motor with a battery to it can
power itself when your legs get tired but it will only get you like 20 miles
before it needs charging. We can market this thing as a green power eco-
vehicle and sell it for like $50,000! How come know one has thought of this
    before?????

  6. Fred: Great idea..then when you need to replace the battery in two years cough up another $10k..on top of the electricity used to charge that battery for two years...oh ya..electricity is free and cost nothing to produce and has no emissions..

  7. The headline to the article just proves how dumb this idea is in the first place, doesn't it?

  8. Too wet for Hans Gruber? I am sure there is a man servant who could have jogged along side him with an umbrella to keep him high and dry.

  9. To all you beer drinking rednecks. I once called myself a republican now I am an independent. I also ride a bike. I have ridden my bike in the middle of a snowstorm down Wisconsin Ave when the county buses could not make it. I ride a bike because it is good for me and I don't care to pay for parking, and the insurance, and the fuel etc............. I have chosen to ride a bike and OBEY the traffic laws that I am subject to. Some of you call us wussies. The person who is a wussie is one that chooces to drive a 3,000lb piece of metal EVERY day in the nicest of weather. I choose to ride the right bike in all conditions. Try it some time you might just like it.

  10. Hans Gruber was praying for rain. Once he got his wish, there was no way he was going to reschedule this. Libs are soft when it comes to dealing with the elements.

  11. Abele, give me a break - it wasn't even raining that hard. I biked to work today.
To the rest of you who blithely assume that Abele's action represent the rest of the biking community in Milwaukee, get over it. Milwaukee needs more bike lanes because more and more people are USING THEM. There's no liberal conspiracy just because he decided not to ride his bike. For the love of Pete, can Milwaukee get a modicum of perspective, already! This is one city with many different people in it, we need to compromise to get things done or it will FAIL, with everyone aboard.

  12. I ride in the blizzards, rain, thunderstorms, 25 below wind chills, etc. It doesn't matter to me. Just need the right clothes. I am no hypocrite.
