Bike to Work Week events: baseball and a ride with Abele

cycling, Bike to Work Week

Bike to Work Week continues to roll in Wisconsin, and in conditions much better-suited for an active commute.

Today's activity organized by the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin is the Bike to the Brewers, a group ride from a couple locations to Miller Park and the contest against the New York Mets. Riders will depart from Mugshotz, 1902 S. 68th St., and the Alterra Foundry, 170 S. 1st St., at 5 p.m.

Those joining in can also park in the Sigma parking lot, 1300 W. Canal St., and ride from there. Check here for additional details.

On Friday, County Executive Chris Abele will take to two wheels, starting from Kenwood Blvd. and Lake Dr. at 7 a.m. and finishing at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

Friday is also Bike to Work Day in Waukesha, and bikers and walkers can grab free coffee and pastries at the Riverfront Plaza from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Check here for details on the afternoon activities.

With a return to cooler weather, Larry Weingarten should find his wool suit more fitting for his daily ride to the Rockwell Automation offices on S. 2nd St. Weingarten won the best-dressed contest in the power suit ride on Tuesday, and assured he would be "fresh as a daisy by 10 a.m.," despite the record heat.

Dave Schlabowske details the competition in this post, and check out the Weingarten video below.
