Milwaukee Bicycle Works hosts bike sale, rider training in Washington Park

bike donations

If you envision a farmer's market for bicyclists, then you have a good mental picture of the Bike Blitz organized by the Milwaukee Bicycle Works in Washington Park on Saturday morning.

From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will be repairing and selling bikes and teaching young pedalers the rules for safe riding.

To donate a bike for sale at the event, drop it off at the Urban Ecology Center, 1859 N. 40th St., between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or 9 a.m. Saturday.

The event on Saturday will be located near the bandshell. Enter the park off W. Lloyd St.

It's the second Bike Blitz hosted by the Milwaukee Bicycle Works, a two-year-old non-profit organization focused on making affordable bikes available to kids and adults in neighborhoods on the city's west side. Children will learn how to fix bikes and to ride them safely.
