Busche takes third in USA Cycling Pro Time Trial Championship

Matt Busche, a Wauwatosa native, raced to third place Saturday in the USA Cycling Pro Time Trial Championship and added to his bona fides as one of the country's top young riders.

Riding for Team RadioShack, Busche covered the 20.7-mile course in 41 minutes, 22 seconds, nearly one minute off the winning time of David Zabriskie (Garmin-Cervelo).

Just two years ago, Busche was racing for the local ISCorp squad, and won the Wisconsin pro road race championship. His potential caught the attention of RadioShack director Johan Bruyneel, and earned him a ticket to race with the best around the world.

After showing good form in the Amgen Tour of California, Busche will look next to the USA Cycling Pro road race on Monday. A strong fifth place finish in the 2009 pro road race was a break out performance for the Tosa West grad.

  1. If was great to see Matt blow the field apart and lead his Radio Shack teammates up a tough climb on Stage 4 of the TOC. Here's wishing him a bright future!
