GE Healthcare takes early lead in corporate challenge 5K

running

There's still the running to be done, but GE Healthcare has a big lead in the participation category of the inaugural Salus Wisconsin Corporate Championship, based on the numbers shared Thursday.

Organized by Briana Boehmer, a fitness and wellness coach at Salus in Delafield, the challenge offers several categories for companies to claim their 5K superiority.

With 90 employees registered to take the start line on Saturday, GE holds a significant lead in total participation. Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Company is running in second, with 51 employees.

In the percentage of work force participating, Synergy Strategic Fitness leads in small companies, Willis of Wisconsin is tops in the medium sized group and Strattec sets the pace among large companies.

True bragging rights - the fastest workforce in Wisconsin - will be decided on Canal St. Saturday morning.

Scores will be based on the finishes of the top four runners on a team, with divisions for men, women and mixed squads. The race also has a C-level competition for the fastest executive - vice president or higher.

The start and finish line will be set up at the Harley-Davidson Museum at 6th and Canal.

As a friendly reminder, I'd like to share this from Ted Shue, a project manager with Northwestern Mutual (my pick to win).

"Absolutely, we're the favorite," Shue said. "When it comes to fitness and conditioning, hands down we're going to be the champion."

  1. I wish the company I work for was fielding a team for this event. I would be able to give some of the faster people at Northwestern Mutual a 'run' for their money . . .
