Volunteers needed for cycling national championships in Madison

cycling

The University of Wisconsin Madison Cycling Club has volunteer slots left to fill for the USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships Friday through Sunday.

The UW team is hosting the championships for a second year, and needs a few more workers to help as course marshals for the road race on Friday and the team time trial on Saturday. In addition to directing traffic at corners, the team needs more people to help delivering provisions to locations on the course, according to Ken Huxtable, president of UW Cycling.

Check out the team website for details on registering as a volunteer.

Roughly 100 teams and close to 500 riders will be competing for 18 national titles over the weekend.

  1. "Roughly 100 teams and close to 500 riders" along with coaches / families / fans (yes there are many cycling fans out there) - I wonder how much revenue that will generate for the state - plus some good PR. I guess I don't see your logic keepthemillinois, but the fact that is your login name, maybe I shouldn't expect much. What is so funny - people who ride a bike (it's fun, good for your health, and cheaper than driving) or people who volunteer - give of their time to help others. I don't get the joke - maybe I am just not very smart, I mean, I do ride a bike and volunteer, so that might explain things.
