Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon reaches capacity
Registration for the 2011 Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon closed about 9 p.m. Monday, after all 3,050 slots were taken.
The marathon, in its 31st year, added 300 slots this year, and still reached its capacity months in advance of the Oct. 2 date.
The run in Milwaukee follows a national trend, a steady increase in marathon participants across the country. According to Running USA, marathons recorded a record 507,000 finishers in the U.S. in 2010.
