Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival awards race spots
Thursday, June 05, 2014 1:05 PM
With a random lottery-drawn limit of 3,100 mountain bikers, hundreds of applicants will fall short in the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival selection process to race this September 12-14. In keeping with tradition, the festival, presented by Trek and produced by Life Time, will award 50 guaranteed reserved entries to the winners of the “50 Ways to Ride the Chequamegon” essay contest.
A multi-point scoring system is applied to each contest submission. Originality, creativity, humor, sincerity, special effort and other factors will produce the essay score. Essays must be legible, less than 500 words and, if three dimensional in nature, less than two-feet-by-two-feet in overall size.
All submissions must be postmarked, emailed or otherwise delivered to the Chequamegon office no later than July 1. After the submissions are judged, winners will be selected and all contest participants will be notified of the outcome by July 15.
Submissions should be sent to Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, P.O. Box 267, 13460 Spruce Street, Cable, WI 54821. Email submissions to email@example.com
GU Crew Leaves No Trace
The volunteer GU Clean Up Crew will once again be on hand at the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival to carefully sweep the 56 miles of linear race course after the mountain bike racers pass through.
You can join the effort as a volunteer team member of the GU Clean Up Crew. Sixteen volunteers will be selected from those who best complete the statement, “I want to be on the GU Clean Up Crew because ... “ and send it in by July 1. GU crew chief Erik Hansen will select the team members from the submissions received. All applicants will be notified of the crew selections by July 15.
Each volunteer GU Crew member will receive an assortment of GU Energy Labs products. In further recognition of their clean up efforts, each GU Crew member will qualify for a guaranteed reserved registration for the 2015 Chequamegon event.
Crew applications should be sent to CFTF, Attention: GU Clean Up Crew, P.O. Box 267, Cable, WI 54821. Emailed submissions can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
